Beat Boredom with a Magical Adventure

We all know that kids (especially during these long days of self quarantine) need to read for a minimum of 30 minutes a day.  I've found as a parent that this ask becomes increasingly easier if your child reads about something they are interested in.  My eleven year old daughter has always loved horses - so she naturally gravitates to books about them.  Lately she has been reading Soul Riders: Jorvik Calling..... and can not put it down.  Jorvik Calling is the first of the Soul Riders trilogy centered around the Star Stable.

The story starts with 15 year old Lisa and her father moving to the town of Jorvik.  Like any tween or teen she is trying to find her way and make new friends.  Lisa loves horse but has not gone near them since her mom died in a riding accident.... however she is drawn to the stables in Jorvik.  There she meets new friends - Linda, Alex, and Annie and one very special horse - Starshine.  Together, the girls become the Soul Riders and embark on a magical adventure.

Yesterday I asked my daughter what she loved about the book and her reply was "Lisa is just so confident!".  The tween and teen years are a pivotal time in life and it is so important to find strong and confident role models for your child to look up to - this makes me love the books as well!

Soul Riders: Jorvik Calling is recommended for ages 9-14, and is for any reader who enjoys magical adventure books. It retails for $8.99.

Want to see if your daughter may be interested in Jorvik Calling?  You can now read the first five chapters for free!

Beyond the Book?  Even more fun!

Star Stable Online

Truth be told, before the books were created - Star Stable was introduced to the tween world as an online game!  My daughter was thrilled to discover this "virtual Star Stable" that allows millions of girls around the world meet in the magical world of Jorvik to care for horses, face challenges, and build friendships.... taking the magic of the book to "almost" real life.  Click here to learn more and download the game.

Star Stable Music

Star Stable Music brings the in-game artists and bands to life, and spans country, pop and rock genres. The Star Stable game characters “come to life” and are uniquely represented with real-life talent and original songs that can be found on Spotify, Apple Music and more. Soul Rider “Lisa Peterson,” who appears in the game and the book, was the first Star Stable character to record and publish music outside the game, propelling her from a game character into a legitimate musician. Lisa Peterson is voiced by Amanda Ortenhag, an accomplished musician based in Sweden. Additionally, Star Stable has released a song for female rock-band The Miscreants (also in-game). Star Stable Music is distributed on nearly 40 music sites including iTunes and Spotify.
