I am so pleased to say I am only 6 pounds away* (* Avg. weight lost in study was 11.6 lbs./4 wks. for those who completed the program. I received promotional consideration) from my goal weight from using the Jenny Craig Rapid Results program!  So what have I learned along the way besides that I actually do love Jenny Craig food?  Here are five tips that I have picked up from some fantastic conversations with my Jenny Craig consultant that aid in making a healthy lifestyle change:

1. You still need to exercise.  Yes I am only 6 pounds from my goal weight and my pants are definitely looser, but there are still some areas that need to tighten up.  This can not be done with just diet alone.  So - I am slowly incorporating yoga and running into my daily routines.  My goal is to start incorporating into my lifestyle exercise at least three times a week.  I know that I just need to carve out time for it.  I also know that I will probably never be one of those people that exercises every day (although that would be great) and that I need to set realistic goals for myself.

2. Water is super important.  Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat.  Also if your body does not get enough water, you will actually retain water as the body tries to protect itself and you will start to swell (which actually happened to me last week and I started freaking out because the scale ticked up a bit and my pants were starting to get tighter).... which when you are trying to lose weight the last thing you want to do is swell!  Now I know I need to aim to drink 72 ounces of water a day (I try to fill my water bottle at least 5 times a day).

3. Every now and then you will slip up but it is so important to not stop.  Weight loss and lifestyle changes for that matter do not have to be all or nothing.  Every once and awhile you will want a few chips or be out with some girlfriends and want to relax with a cocktail.  It's ok!  If you slip - the most important thing is to be mindful of it.  Know how many extra calories you are consuming and perhaps what you may need to do exercise-wise to make it up (it is also important to never skip a healthy meal or food group because of a slip).

4. Be sure to include food that you like.  What I do love about Jenny Craig is that I can still have my snacks.  I mean check out the Jenny Craig White Cheddar Popcorn above!  I can be living a healthier lifestyle and still enjoy popcorn and a movie with my family!  You have to give yourself something to look forward to.  I'm not ashamed to say that every morning when I look at my Jenny Craig meal plan for the day I immediately look to see what's for dessert that evening!  I love that these are REAL desserts - not bland diety ones that look like they taste good but don't.  These are the real thing, just portioned properly!

5. Record your wins - even if they are little ones!  I had a huge weight drop my first week, and then it started just trickling off little by little or sometimes not at all.  My Jenny Craig Consultant recommended to set rewards for myself once I reach a goal so I can celebrate the wins!  This can be anything from sneaking away with a good book and not feeling guilty about it to taking a nice bath with a bath bomb, etc!

I'd love to hear from you all - what healthy lifestyle tips do you have?
