A Wholesome Family Tradition at Splashway Waterpark and Campgrounds

By Lindsay Flagan July 26, 2018

Do you have any family vacation traditions?  Somewhere that each year your family just has to go?  For the past three years our family LOVES to head to Splashway Waterpark and Campgrounds in Sheridan, TX.

A few weeks ago we spent three amazing nights at Splashway, and as always – made so many great memories! Our days were spent at the waterpark where there is enough for each age range to keep everyone busy.  Splashway is big – but not crazy unmanageable big.We feel completely comfortable letting our 9 and almost 8 year old go down a slide together while we do something with our 4 year old nearby.  They are always adding attractions to the park as well - new this year is the Loco Mono, which is a tube ride that fits up to four people at a time with tons of unexpected drops and turns and is quite the adrenaline rush!  The park is impeccably clean – you never ever see any trash hanging around and the staff really and truly cares about each family that is visiting.  In fact – they consider you family.

Splashway is so family friendly that you will notice throughout the day if a family member is looking for another member they do not hesitate to make an announcement on the loudspeaker.  We always choose to get a cabana so we have a central meeting place as well as a place to lock up our stuff and sit down and have some lunch.  With the touch of a button – a member of the staff is there to bring you anything from slushies and pizza to soda and burgers!  Appropriate music is playing through out the day (they even break in the afternoon for the playing of the National anthem) and it truly is a place you can feel good… make that great about!  There is also tons of free seating and you can bring food and drink into the park to create your own picnic.

New this year are Splash Cash wristbands – which are fantastic – you can get one for each family member and load a specific amount of cash onto each one to purchase food, gifts, or even items from the Camp Store.  No need to bring your credit card into the park anymore!

The best part about making Splashway a family vacation is that the campground is walking distance from the park.  We love staying in the cabins and they comfortably sleep up to 10!  There is a bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and then 4 queen beds upstairs in the loft.  The cabin comes equipped with a stove, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and all of the supplies you need to make a meal – you just bring the food (if you forget anything they really do have a great camp store on site)!  We love to sit outside after dinner and make s’mores and just relax by the fire.  And my absolutely FAVORITE thing to do as a mom is to wake up a little bit before everyone else and sit outside on the screened in porch with a cup of coffee – so relaxing and peaceful!  Tent and RV sites are also available.

New this year at the campground is a mini golf and a super fun laser tag center.  ALL of my kids LOVED the laser tag.  The field is set up with all kinds of structures to hide behind and for some reason they really enjoyed shooting their mom….. hmmmmm.Even my 4 year old got in on the action.

At night, Splashway organizes movies and crafts or you can opt to go fishing, play a game of giant chess, or just hang around on the playground.  Tons of wholesome fun to keep the kids outside and playing and away from the screens!
