LEGOs and Video Games- Yes Please! LEGO Dimensions Review

My kids, but mostly my son, have a love for LEGOS and video games.  So when we got the opportunity to review LEGO Dimensions I jumped at it - the perfect marriage of the creativity of building and video gaming!

When the package arrived, we decided to invite some neighborhood kids over and make it a party!  We received the Batman LEGO Dimensions Starter pack for our PS3 and it included the LEGO game disc, LEGOs for the in game build, the toy pad to connect to your gaming system, 3 LEGO mini figures to switch in and out of the game, and the LEGO Batman vehicle.

There is something for everyone with LEGO Dimensions - expansion pack examples include Harry Potter, Batman, Ghostbusters, and even the A-Team!  There are tons to choose from, just keep in mind your system needs to update with new software with each pack - so patience is key - but it is well worth it!  We loved that up to four players could play at a time - this cuts down on the bickering big time at our house!

Each round of a game of LEGO Dimensions starts by having you physically build real LEGOs on the LEGO toy pad.  Below, you can see the LEGO Gateway or "portal" (as my kids call it) that we built following the directions provided and IN GAME build instructions (my kids loved that the TV was telling them how to build... and honestly so did the parents).  I also have to say that the graphics in this game are phenomenal -  I personally am not really a "gamer" and our kids are just now getting into it - but boy have video games come a long way since the 1980s!

LEGO Dimensions is available for PS3, PS4, XBOX One, XBOX 360, and Wii U and is available at retailers Nationwide.  If you have a gamer or a builder on your Holiday List, this is a great gift idea to consider!  Starter packs retail for $79.99 and expansion packs range from $11.99 - $49.99 and there are Story, Level, Team, and Fun packs available.

I received complimentary product and compensation in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.
