Holiday Light Shows

We hope this list of area light displays, shows and parades can help you in your plans for starting or continuing holiday traditions this year.  Get the kids in their pj's, load them up in the car with some hot chocolate, and take a drive past a neighborhood light show this holiday season!  Or get tickets to one of the area displays like Moody Gardens Festival of Lights, The Christmas Train in Alvin, Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo or Santa's Wonderland in College Station.  It's free to stroll The Dickinson Festival of Lights or to view the 54th annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade.


Santa’s Winter Wonderland

Open November 13 through January 3.  Visit Santa’s Town, a nostalgic Christmas village and the famous Trail of Lights in College Station.  Food, musical entertainment, shopping, and fun activities for adults and children of all ages.  “Exquisitely crafted Christmas scenes that sparkle with over 3 million lights!”

Moody Gardens Festival of Lights
has more than 1 million lights within 100 sound-enhanced animated light displays and nightly live entertainment.  Open November 14 through January 10.  Festival admission is $10.95 and includes ice skating on the area’s only outdoor ice skating rink!  Bring your own skates or rent some at the rink.  Try out the Arctic Slide ($7, $20 for 10 slides and $25 for the full day).  Pictures with Santa area also available as part of the fun.

Houston Zoo Lights

Powered by 3 houses and over 100,000 lights!  Set to music on 107.1 FM, 21 minute show.  
November 23 through January 3.

Brittenum Family LIghts

Christmas light show in Friendswood, beginning on Thanksgiving (Nov 26, 5:30 p.m.) and running through New Year’s Day.  
5:30 p.m. through 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday
5:30 p.m. through 11:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday and special ocassions

Dickinson Festival of Lights will be open Saturday, November 28 through Thursday, December 31, 2015.  All parking and shuttle buses are free of charge.  Cookie decorating ($1), concession stand (prices vary), pictures with Santa (free with your camera or $5 to purchase a picture).  Click the link above for map, parking info and more details.  The Dickinson Festival of Lights is made possible by volunteers in the community coming together to provide a wonderful experience for all.

The Christmas Train in Alvin

Ride the Christmas Train through a display of over 300,000 lights and hundreds of Christmas decorations.  Opening night is December 4, and you can find tickets and departure times on their website.  Experience colorful gingerbread villages, penguin snow lands and life size storybook illustrations on your ride.  Volunteers from Living Stones Church and Victory Camp set up and host the Christmas Train.  Train concessions, gifts and souvenirs are available for purchase.  Click the link above to purchase your train tickets in advance and to check operating times.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $2 for children (3-11) and free for kids 2 and under.

 

54th Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade

Saturday, December 12, 6 p.m.
