Mommy Confessions

Spring Cleaning

By Rebecca Benson March 3, 2012

I have been a crazy lady the past few weeks with all the spring cleaning going on in the house. It started off small in the house, I decided to clean and organize my pantry which for some reason seems to always be in a state of chaos. I clean it and the next thing I know it is all messed up again. I guess four people in and out of it all day does it.

So when I was done with the pantry which I pulled everything out, organized and put things in bins and containers, I moved on to the cabinets. I thought what the heck; let’s get the whole thing done. So next thing I knew all of my cabinets were organized and cleaned out. I was ruthless in getting rid of things I hadn’t used for years. I threw broken things away that for some odd reason I had kept.

When it was all said and done, my kitchen looks pretty good. I actually had a friend stop by and look in the pantry for ideas. So my crazy spring cleaning moved upstairs where I decided to do the linen closet which I hadn’t touched for years and well pulled out all the stuff. I had wedding presents in there like crystal vases and bowls I haven’t used for years. I finally pulled out a vase given to us that I had no place for and I found a place. I took all the extra blankets and such and well put them in those space saving bags. Wow did the closet look nice and after I had space for those odds and ends that seem to pile up after the holidays.

Then I moved on to my closet and got rid of all the clothes that didn’t fit me any longer after my weight loss. I bagged up so much in there. It looked so nice to and I keep thinking of what else I could do. Both kids’ closets I did right after the holidays to fit all their toys in. I do have one more closet that needs to be done but I am unsure what to do with it all right now.

The funny thing is I actually enjoyed it and love having things organized. I am weird like that in getting that high from cleaning. I can go months without being this productive. I find that when I organize and clean like this I feel so much better overall and life seems to function around us all better. Here is the funny thing, it will be a mess again in a few weeks, and I will happily redo it and try again. That is just life with having kids.
